Preparing Figures

Figures can be an effective way of presenting information. It is important, however, to label a figure completely. Both the x- and the y-axis should be labeled, and each figure should have a title.

Figures should be numbered sequentially, starting with number 1, and should be numbered independently of tables. When submitting a paper for publication, each figure should be professionally drawn and submitted as a glossy print or presented as a digital image. The figures are numbered on the back of the print, and the figure numbers and titles appear on a separate sheet.

An example of the a figure is shown below as two separate pages, exactly as it should appear in a manuscript.
