Library Research Tutorial

One of the most critical skills in research and scholarship is the ability to use the resources of the library effectively. This unit will cover the basics of library research, providing some examples to help illustrate these critical skills. Since most college libraries routinely provide computerized databases, we will emphasize the use of these databases in our examples. Listed below is the outline for this section. It is essentially an expansion of the material in Appendix C of the textbook.

We have included actual library searches in this tutorial. We walk you through those searches with flash animations. However, those animations can take a long time to download on a dial-up connection. Therefore, we give students the option of the animations for those with a high speed connection and simple images for those people with a low speed connection.
